The Novel — Unsated
A camping trip.
A missing daughter.
Something is waiting in the woods.
And it’s hungry.
Melody has spent her life trying to outrun the things that shaped her.
But some things follow.
Deep in the woods, something waits among the trees—something old enough to have many names, and hungry enough to make no distinction between what we inherit and what we become.
Because some hungers are passed down.
Some are learned.
And some refuse to die.
“Unsated is a terrifying creature horror… I hesitated to turn out the lights before bed.”— Hannah Kelley, Kelley Editorial (NYC)

About Matthew
I write horror. I talk injustice. Because the real monsters aren’t always fiction.
Matthew Flagler is an author, educator, and retired firefighter originally from Peterborough, Ontario. He now divides his time between Southern Ontario and Costa Rica, where he's usually writing, reading, or convincing himself he's only opening social media for “five minutes.”
His debut nonfiction book, Held to the Fire, explores one of Canada's deadliest industrial disasters: the 1916 Quaker Oats explosion in Peterborough, Ontario. Unsated is his debut novel.
When he isn't writing, Matthew can often be found doom-scrolling social media, laughing at AI-generated cat videos and epic fail compilations, or researching his next project while insisting he's “taking the day off.”
He is currently outlining his next horror novel.
You can find Matthew on TikTok, YouTube and IG at @author_matthewflagler, where he creates original content exploring history, social justice, the stories we tell ourselves and conversations about the real-world monsters that are far more terrifying than anything he could make up in his head.
